After your lip session

If the after care is not followed properly, we will know and it will be up to our discretion if we would continue to work on you in the future. This is an investment in your face and the after care is the most important part of the procedure.

Day 1 (Day of the Procedure)

  • It is very important to remove the lymph fluid from the surface of the skin in order to avoid heavy scabbing. Before bed, if the lips still have some dry lymph, rinse with lukewarm water, gently removing the dry lymph, pat dry and apply Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Sometimes the lips can bruise even after the procedure. Bruising will subside within 24 hours post procedure. NO STEAM. Avoid hot tubs, swimming pools, and hot baths for 1 week!! Avoid sweaty workouts, yard work or any activity that would introduce dirt or germs for the first 3 days.

Day 2-7

  • The lips may be swollen the second day as well. Please do not ice the lips. Keep the skin moist at all times, do not let the lips dry out. Continue to apply ointment every 30 minutes throughout the day. Again, do NOT let the lips dry out.

During Day 1 to Day 7 (or until the scabs are gone)

Please Avoid:

  • Water (on the PMU area) aside from cleaning them

  • Makeup

  • Excessive sweating

  • Sauna

  • Pools

  • Sunbathing

  • Spicy food

  • Kissing

After lips are no longer tender to the touch they may become flaky. This is normal and is expected. Please do not pick or scratch at them. This may significantly reduce the amount pigment uptake. Avoid the sun and tanning beds pre and post procedure. Be sure to use a sun block once lips are healed. Do not use any Glycolic, Hydroxy or fruit acid products on lips. Avoid direct water pressure, pools and other bodies of water, until healed. Please be advised it is a good idea to brush your teeth with just water for 72 hours, post treatment. You can resume wearing lipstick once lips are healed. Redness, swelling, tenderness, dryness are all common post treatment side effects and will dissipate in a short period of time. Avoid oily, salty, acidic foods and alcohol while healing.

After procedure, lips will feel tight. Allow them to remain immobile as much as possible until they peel. Avoid exaggerated facial expressions, drink fluids with straws and don’t pucker lips until they peel (approx. 3 days). Avoid stretching, rubbing and friction. Do not eat foods that require stretching such as sandwiches and fruits. Cut food and pass it over the lips.

Day 2-7

Do not apply anything besides Aquaphor ointment (no Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Polysporin etc). Following the procedure, do not use creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin. Touchups (if needed) can be done no sooner than 8 weeks after the original appointment.
